4 arrested from Ctg over stabbing of police SI in Mohammadpur
Investigators believe the incident stemmed from previous enmity rather than a mugging.
Police have arrested four people in connection with the stabbing of Special Branch (SB) Sub-Inspector Md Osman Gani, also known as Faisal, in Dhaka's Mohammadpur earlier this week.
The arrestees are Sharif Uddin Babu, 21, Nazmul Hasan, 23, Md Imon, 23, and Md Jewel, 22.
A team from Mohammadpur Police Station arrested them during a raid in Chattogram today (26 July).

Confirming the matter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Additional Deputy Commissioner (Mohammadpur Zone) Md Jewel Rana said the four suspects had been arrested over the attack on the police officer in Mohammadpur's Kaderabad Housing and were being brought to Dhaka.
The attack took place at around 9:30pm on 23 July in front of the officer's residence on Road No. 4 of D Block in Kaderabad Housing.
The victim, who serves in the Immigration Branch of the Special Branch at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, sustained severe injuries to his back and required 45 stitches. He later filed a case with Mohammadpur Police Station over the incident.
According to the case statement, after returning home from work at around 7am on 22 July, three to four unidentified men approached Osman Gani after he got off an auto-rickshaw in front of his residence.
The assailants asked him about the procedure for changing the address on a passport. Finding their behaviour suspicious, the officer advised them to contact the passport office directly.
The following night, while returning home with his wife and child after shopping at a local market near Mokbul Hossain College, he noticed five to six unidentified men following them.
The complaint states that one of the assailants attempted to strike him on the head with a sharp knife with the intention of killing him. Osman Gani managed to move aside, but the blow landed on his back, causing serious injuries.
He was initially treated at a local clinic before being shifted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
