Govt forms committee to review draft telecom policy
The committee has been tasked with analysing the background of the proposed policy and its potential short, medium and long-term outcomes -- both intended and unintended.

The government has formed a committee to review the draft of the Telecommunication Network and Licensing Regime Reform Policy 2025.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division today (20 July), Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud has been appointed as the committee's chair.
The other members of the committee include Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin and Special Assistant to Chief Adviser Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, who is in-charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
The committee has been tasked with analysing the background of the proposed policy and its potential short, medium and long-term outcomes -- both intended and unintended.
It will also evaluate the policy's financial and macroeconomic impacts, technical feasibility and legal enforcement mechanisms, said the notification.
Additionally, the committee has been authorised to co-opt additional members if necessary and may invite relevant officials, experts, or stakeholders to attend its meetings.
The meetings will be held as required, with secretarial support provided by the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, the notification added.
