National University to set up exam centres in 64 districts

National University has announced plans to set up independent examination centres in all 64 districts across Bangladesh, along with eight learning centres, one teacher training centre, and eight regional centres. This decision was made at the 268th syndicate meeting of the university, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah, held on Tuesday, 22 April 2025, at the university's city office in Dhanmondi.
The independent exam centres will not only host the university's own examinations but also facilitate national-level exams such as SSC, HSC, PSC, and various recruitment tests for both government and private sectors. Currently, colleges often have to suspend classes for extended periods during examinations, disrupting students' academic progress. The Vice-Chancellor expressed hope that these dedicated exam venues would help reduce session jams. He also stated that the Ministry of Education would provide overall support in establishing these centres.
To enhance subject-specific knowledge and skills among students and teachers of affiliated colleges, the university will also introduce training programmes at eight new learning centres in Kuakata (Patuakhali), Teknaf (Cox's Bazar), Rangamati, Habiganj, Tetulia (Panchagarh), Shyamnagar (Satkhira), Shibganj (Chapainawabganj), and Hatiya (Noakhali).
In addition, a teacher training centre will be set up in Chuadanga to train educators from affiliated colleges. For decentralisation of academic and administrative activities, regional centres will be established in Dhaka, Jashore, Kushtia, Thakurgaon, Noakhali, Patuakhali, Khagrachhari, and Cox's Bazar.
