Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been killed in a joint US–Israel strike, according to Iranian state media. The announcement was confirmed by IRIB on 1 March.

US President Donald Trump declared Khamenei's death on Truth Social, while Israeli officials also claimed his body had been recovered.

Reports say members of his family were killed in the attack. Iran has declared 40 days of national mourning, raising fears of major regional escalation.
