NU asks 2,206 subordinate colleges to launch online classes
The educational institutions have been directed to use mobile apps or Zoom software developed by the National University
The National University has directed its 2,206 subordinate colleges to launch online classes in compliance with the health instructions given by the government to contain the Covid-19 spread.
Professor Dr Harun-or-Rashid, vice-chancellor of the university, gave the order on Sunday in a press release.
Earlier on April 3, the education ministry held an online meeting with the the University Grants Commission where Education Minister Dipu Moni, Deputy Education Minister Mahibul Hassan Chowdhury, Secretary of and secondary and higher secondary education division Md Mahbub Hossain, UGC Chairman Professor Kazi Shahidullah and the vice-chancellors of National University and some other universities were present.

The meeting decided to launch online classes in subordinate 2,260 colleges and educational institutions under the National University in compliance with health instructions.
The university vice-chancellor issued a guideline over health instruction and operating online classes during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The colleges which have facilities of taking online classes have to launch the academic activities as soon as possible. And those who do not have the facility have been directed to arrange soon.
The educational institutions have been directed to use mobile apps or Zoom software developed by the National University. Students will connect with the classes via respective colleges through the apps.
Rajshahi College and several other college and professional institutions have already launched online classes.
To avoid session clutter, students have been asked to take preparation for exams so that the educational institutions can hold exams immediately after the lockdown ends.
The National University vice-chancellor also asked teachers and college administration to get prepared to hold exams and evaluate answer sheets. He also said the online classes would continue even after the educational institutions are opened.
He asked cooperation among all teachers, students, officials and staff to implement the aforementioned instructions.
