Effective governance and planning are crucial : VC NU

Speaking as the chief guest at the annual sports competition and prize distribution ceremony at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College, Gazipur on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM, National University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah said, "We do not have a shortage of resources, only development has not been possible due to the lack of good governance and proper planning. "

He said, "Even after 54 years of independence, our education system has not been properly developed. To improve the quality of education, the current administration of the National University is carrying out various important activities, including reorganising the governing bodies of affiliated colleges, strengthening college monitoring and auditing, providing training to teachers, and establishing regional centres to provide all the facilities to departmental-level colleges." He added, "Appropriate measures are also being taken to control mob justice in colleges."

Dr Amanullah said, "There is no alternative to improving the education system in building Bangladesh. Quality education is vital. To implement a quality higher education system, syllabus reform, ICT education, and English have been made mandatory for students so that our students can acquire national and international capabilities to meet the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution."

While delivering a speech at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College, he said, "The current number of students of this college, established in 1967, is about 16,000. But the teaching infrastructure of the college has not been developed in that way due to a lack of good governance and proper planning." He assured cooperation in the overall development of the college, including its academic activities.

Professor Md Shawkat Ali, Professor Md. Mohsin, Professor Asim Kumar Barman and Md. Shamim Sharif was a special guest of the program, under the chairmanship of Professor Chanowara Sultana, Principal of Bhawal Badre Alam Government College. Among others, directors of various departments at the National University, college teachers, and students were present. Finally, prizes were distributed among the winning students in the competition. The event's chief guest, Professor Dr ASM Amanullah, Vice Chancellor of the National University, delivered the keynote address.
