Quality education at colleges can enhance standards at public universities : NU VC

Vice-Chancellor of the National University (NU), Professor Dr ASM Amanullah, has said, "It is imperative to enhance the standard of education at the college to ensure quality learning at the country's public universities."

He was speaking as the Course Adviser at Thursday's concluding online session of the three-day Training for Teachers on Research Methodology seminar. Dr. Amanullah stated that the university administration plans to identify 250 colleges as model colleges and designate the university's centennial colleges to facilitate research. Gradually, all the affiliated colleges will be brought under the research perspective. "To this end, National University is going to take necessary steps to enlighten the teachers on basic research knowledge," said the NU Vice-Chancellor.

Dr. Amanullah also emphasised the need to replace the outdated syllabi and reform the existing education system. Speaking as the chief guest, Senior Secretary of Public Administration Ministry, Dr Mokhles ur Rahman, said the measures the National University took towards research methodology are remarkable. The Ministry will provide all necessary assistance in this regard."

The event was graced by the presence of several distinguished individuals, including Professor Dr A B M Obaidul Islam, the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University; Professor Lutfor Rahaman, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of National University; Professor Dr A T M Zafrul Azam, the Treasurer of National University; and Professor Dr A I Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, a Syndicate Member of National University. Professor Dr Shah Ehsan Habib and Masum Billah, Research Person from Sydney, Australia, and Dr Jalal Uddin from Canada, joined virtually. Also in attendance were the acting Deans of various faculties, the Registrar, and the heads of different departments within the National University. The concluding ceremony was overseen by Salma Parveen, the Director of the Teachers' Training Department at National University.
