Ducsu Social Welfare Secretary Akter Hossain, one of the victims, said they went to TSC to protest against the Indian Citizenship Amendment Act as scheduled. At one stage, some BCL leaders led by Muktijuddho Mancha's central unit President Aminul Islam and DU unit President Gonesh Mahmud came to the spot and started tearing the posters.

"They beat us when we tried to prevent them," Akter told The Business Standard.

However, denying the allegation, Aminul said no incident of attack happened, there was just an argument.
