A case has been lodged today against 71 local unit leaders and workers of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) on charges of vandalism, looting and shooting.

Rabiul Alam Milu, general secretary of Boalia Thana unit of BNP, lodged the case with Bolalia Police Station mentioning names of 21 AL leaders and workers.

In his petition, Milu stated that the accused, equipped with lethal weapons, attacked his house in Sasthitala area, and vandalised and looted valuables.

He also mentioned that the attackers fired shotguns and looted 10 bhori gold ornaments and Tk3.25 lakh in cash, breaking down his wooden almirah.

Besides, the intruders threatened to kill him and his family members.

Masud Parvej, officer-in-charge (OC) of Boalia Police Station, said they recorded the case and already started drives to bring the accused to book but most of the accused remained absconding.

They will continue their drives until the accused are arrested, he added.
