Krishak Dal leader hacked in Rajshahi

A local leader of the Krishak Dal was hacked by an unidentified miscreant at Ramchandrapur graveyard area under Nimpur union in Rajshahi's Charghat upazila today (11 February).

Helal Uddin Faruqi, officer-in-charge (OC) of Charghat Model Police Station, said that police rushed to the scene after being informed.
"The identity of the attacker is yet to be known and legal action will be taken following an investigation," he added.
According to locals, Biraj was returning home after cutting grass for cattle in a nearby field. As he reached the Kaluhaati–Arani road near the Ramchandrapur graveyard, a helmet-wearing assailant approached him on a motorcycle and attacked him with a machete, leaving him critically injured and then fled the scene.
Hearing his screams, locals rushed to the scene, took Biraj to Puthia Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The victim's elder brother, Abdul Majid, said that the attacker fled despite locals attempting to chase him. "The motorcycle's number plate was covered with cloth," he said.
