Severed body recovered in Sabujbagh: Another accused placed on 4-day remand
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasan Shahadat passed the order following a police petition, Dhaka Metropolitan Prosecution Department Sub-Inspector Mominul Islam confirmed.
A Dhaka court today (24 August) placed an accused named Rocky on a four-day remand in a case filed over the murder and dismemberment of a 19-year-old woman in the capital's Sabujbagh area.

Sabujbagh Police Station Sub-Inspector Nure Alam Siddique, the investigating officer of the case, sought an order to show the accused Rocky arrested in the case after police found evidence of his involvement in the murder of Shuraiya Akter alias Falani. Rocky was produced before the court, which subsequently granted the police's plea to show him arrested in the case.
Later, the investigating officer sought a 10-day remand to interrogate him. The court granted a four-day remand. No lawyer represented the accused during the hearing.
The incident On 6 August, police recovered the severed head and two hands of a young woman from beneath a bridge adjacent to a cattle farm in the Madartek Baganbari area of Sabujbagh.
The victim's parents identified the remains as those of Falani, 19, after seeing photographs of the severed head and distinctive tattoos on both hands. Falani was the daughter of Bazlul Bepari of Dhalikandi village in Munshiganj.
Following the recovery, SI Rashedul Hasan filed a case with Sabujbagh Police Station on 6 August against unidentified individuals. Police later arrested five people in connection with the murder on 21 August.
They are Falani's friend Nusrat Jahan Sahida, 19; Faruk alias Jamai Faruk, 45; Sujon, 20; Mamun, 20; and Rafi Islam alias Bappi, 19. They were produced before a Dhaka court the next day, when police sought 10-day remand for each of them. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Monjurul Islam granted a four-day remand for all five.
According to the first information report, police collected and analysed CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas. The footage showed the victim, the arrested suspects and several unidentified people staying together for an extended period at Baganbari Kalvert around 9:30pm on 3 August, according to the investigation.
The suspects allegedly took Falani to an unidentified location, after which she was not seen again, the case documents said.
Around 12:20am on 4 August, Faruk and the other accused, excluding Falani, along with unidentified individuals, were again seen staying at Baganbari Kalvert for an extended period before leaving, according to the case documents.
Based on preliminary investigation, analysis of digital information, questioning of local witnesses, the suspects' previous conduct and the circumstances surrounding the incident, police said they found evidence indicating the involvement of the five accused in the killing.
