Former Bagerhat MP Milon shown arrested in BNP activist Mokbul murder case
The case names 256 people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and 400 to 500 unidentified individuals as accused. Milon is listed as accused No 99 in the first information report.
Former Bagerhat-4 MP and Awami League Central Executive Committee member Amirul Alam Milon, 72, has been shown arrested in a case filed over the murder of BNP activist Mokbul Hossain.
The order was passed by Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam after a hearing today (24 August), Rukonuzzaman, an inspector of the prosecution department, confirmed.
Earlier, the investigation officer of the case, DB Motijheel Division Sub-Inspector Md Tofazzal Hossain, produced Milon before the court and sought an order to show him arrested in the case.

Following the application, the court showed him arrested in the case and ordered that he be sent to jail.
According to the case statement, BNP leaders and activists began gathering in Naya Paltan on 10 December 2022 as part of a programme to press home their one-point demand.
On 7 December, police conducted a raid on the BNP central office in Naya Paltan allegedly on the direct and indirect instructions of the accused, during which extensive vandalism took place. Mokbul Hossain, a BNP activist, was shot and later died during the attack.
Mahfuzur Rahman filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on 30 September 2024.

Milon was previously arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch in May 2025 and has remained in jail since then.
