Measles death toll rises to 938 as 5 more die in 24hrs
Five more suspected measles deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, alongside 1,149 new suspected cases nationwide.
Five more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8am today (24 August), taking the country's combined confirmed and suspected measles-related death toll to 938 this year.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified all five latest fatalities as suspected measles deaths.
With the latest deaths, the number of suspected measles-related fatalities has risen to 839, while confirmed measles deaths remain at 99, according to DGHS data.

Meanwhile, 1,149 new suspected measles cases were reported during the 24-hour period, taking the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 150,652.
The health authorities also recorded 83 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 18,487.
Since 15 March this year, a total of 131,664 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, according to the DGHS.
Of them, 126,921 patients have recovered.
