Ex-minister Qamrul on 8-day remand in Wadud killing case
Abdul Wadud was killed in the New Market area on 19 July during the anti-discrimination movement led by students
A Dhaka court today (19 November) placed former food minister Qamrul Islam on an eight-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of trader Abdul Wadud.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman passed the order after police produced Qamrul before the court and sought 10 days to grill him in the case filed at New Market Police Station.
The former minister was arrested by police from a house in Uttara's Sector-12 last night.

Abdul Wadud was killed in the New Market area on 19 July during the anti-discrimination movement led by students.
Wadud's relative Abdur Rahman filed the case on 21 August against 130 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Anisul Huq, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Salman F Rahman and Amir Hossain Amu.
