Driver, caretaker of Tarique Siddique placed on fresh 4-day remand in July uprising murder case
Earlier, on 20 April, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Didarul Alam had also granted them a four-day remand in the same case.
A Dhaka court today (24 April) placed the driver and caretaker of major general (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former defence adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, on a fresh four-day remand in connection with the murder of businessman Abdul Wadud during the 2024 July Uprising.
The accused are driver Md Mahidul Islam, 42, and caretaker Md Chan Mia, 46.
They were produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka after completing an earlier four-day remand.
The investigation officer sought a fresh seven-day remand for further investigation.
After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Al Biruni Mir granted a four-day remand for each of them.
According to case documents, the incident took place on the afternoon of 19 July, 2024 in the Nilkhet area under New Market Police Station.
The case was filed by the victim's brother-in-law, Abdur Rob, at New Market Police Station, accusing 130 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader.
Police arrested Mahidul Islam from Thakurgaon and Chan Mia from the capital's Bhashantek area on 19 April.
Earlier, on 20 April, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Didarul Alam had also granted them a four-day remand in the same case.
