BRTA distributes Tk1cr among road accident victims in Munshiganj
A total of 27 victims and their family members received cheques, based on applications submitted over the past six months.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Trustee Board has distributed financial assistance cheques worth Tk1.19 crore among road accident victims and the families of the deceased in Munshiganj.
The cheques were handed over at a ceremony held at the Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner's office at 10:30am today (1 February).
BRTA Chairman (Additional Secretary) Abu Momtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed attended the event as the chief guest.
The programme was organised jointly by the BRTA and the Munshiganj district administration.
A total of 27 victims and their family members received cheques, based on applications submitted over the past six months.
Under the scheme, injured victims received Tk1 lakh each, while families of the deceased were given Tk5 lakh each. Of the total amount, Tk4 lakh was distributed among four injured persons, while Tk1.15 crore was given to the families of 23 deceased victims.
The ceremony was presided over by Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi.
Also present were BRTA Joint Secretary Rubaiyat E Ashique, Additional Magistrate Md Rezaul Karim, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Firoz Kabir, officials from the BRTA and the district administration, and relatives of those injured and killed in road accidents.
