Avoiding return of autocracy requires healthy political practices: Salahuddin
"Through the practice of democratic culture, we will reach a stage where there will be no scope for fascism or dictatorship to re-emerge in Bangladesh", said Salahuddin.

To prevent the resurgence of authoritarian rule, it is essential to establish and nurture a culture of healthy political practices and principled politics, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has said today (6 September).
"Through the practice of democratic culture, we will reach a stage where there will be no scope for fascism or dictatorship to re-emerge in Bangladesh," he said while speaking as the chief guest at a football tournament organised by BNP's Dhaka Metropolitan North and South units. The event, held on the occasion of the party's 47th founding anniversary at Dhanmondi Club.
Salahuddin further prioritised fostering cordial relations among party activists and ensuring that no one obstructs another in carrying out democratic programmes.
"There must be no coercive attitude in our political practice. These values are what define democratic culture in politics," he noted.
The BNP leader added that the public should also be able to perceive a change through the party's cultural practices. "To bring qualitative change in politics, we must present and uphold sound political ideals, and continuously cultivate good political culture. Only then will the fascist tendencies and practices of the past disappear for good."
Leaders from different tiers of BNP's Dhaka Metropolitan North and South units were also present at the event.
