Eight foreign-made pistols, explosives, and ammunition were recovered from a train compartment at the Airport Railway Station in Dhaka during a special operation led by the Bangladesh Army this morning (26 October).
Four suspects were detained and handed over to police for preliminary questioning, according to an Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) press release.
The operation, launched at 11:15am based on specific intelligence, was carried out in coordination with intelligence agencies and the Railway Police.
The raid targeted a specific compartment of the Rajshahi-bound Banalata Express.
During the search, officials recovered eight pistols, 16 magazines, 26 rounds of ammunition, 2.39 kilogrammes of gunpowder, and 2.23 kilogrammes of plastic explosives, said the media release.
In the statement, the Bangladesh Army said it remains committed to ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding national security.
It also said that similar joint operations against terrorism, sabotage, and criminal activities will continue.
