Measles outbreak: Death toll rises to 528 as 16 more die in 24 hours
During the same period, 1,306 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals nationwide
Another 16 children died from measles-like symptoms across the country between 8am yesterday and 8am today (24 May), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The death toll in this year's measles outbreak has now risen to 528.
During the same period, 1,306 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals nationwide.
Of these, 128 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles.
So far this year, at least 86 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh. In addition, 442 children have died with symptoms consistent with measles.
DGHS data shows that between 15 March and 24 May, a total of 8,622 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
According to the latest health bulletin, 63,813 suspected measles cases have been identified nationwide. Of these, 46,214 patients have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
