Arsa top leader Ataullah, five associates placed on 8-day remand

A Narayanganj court today (13 April) placed Ataullah Abu Ammar Jununi, a top leader of armed group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa), and five of his associates on an eight-day remand.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdullah-al-Masum issued the order this afternoon after police appealed for a 10-day remand in a case filed with Siddhirganj Police Station, said Public Prosecutor Khorshed Alam Molla.
The other remandees are: Mostaq Ahmed, 66, Salimullah, 27, Moniruzzaman, 24, Md Asmatullah, 24, and Hasan, 43. All of them lived in the Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar.
Khorshed Alam alleged that Ataullah had been holding secret meetings in Narayanganj and Mymensingh areas to commit criminal activities.
Ataullah has several charges against him, including nine murder cases, he added.
Earlier on 18 March, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Atabullah and nine other suspected Arsa members from Narayanganj and Mymensingh.
