All six Dhaka University students arrested over the lynching of Tofazzal Hossain on the university campus have confessed to being involved in the incident.

They made confessional statements to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court, reads a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) statement issued tonight (20 September).

All the arrestees were later sent to jail, added the statement signed by Deputy Commissioner Md Talebur Rahman.

Tofazzal Hossain, a youth hailing from Barguna, was beaten to death on DU campus on suspicion of theft at the Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall of Dhaka University on 18 September.

A case has been filed by DU authorities over the incident with Shahbagh Police Station.

Police later arrested six DU students over the incident yesterday.

The arrestees are Md Jalal Mia, a former Chhatra League leader of Fazlul Huq hall unit, Suman Mia, Mottakin Sakin, Al Hossain Sazzad, Wazibul Alam and Ahsan Ullah.
