429 nomination papers submitted for Cucsu elections
Confirming the matter today (19 September), Election Commissioner Professor AKM Ariful Haque Siddique told The Business Standard that 25 candidates filed for the position of vice president, while 22 each submitted nominations for general secretary and joint general secretary.

A total of 429 candidates have submitted nomination papers for various posts in the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) and hall union elections.
Confirming the matter today (19 September), Election Commissioner Professor AKM Ariful Haque Siddique told The Business Standard that 25 candidates filed for the position of vice president, while 22 each submitted nominations for general secretary and joint general secretary.
The commission also confirmed that the preliminary list of candidates will be published on 21 September, the last date for withdrawals is 23 September, and the final list will be released on 25 September.
Voting is scheduled for 12 October from 9:00am to 4:00pm using the OMR system.
Other nominations include 12 candidates for Sports and Games secretary and 15 for the joint post of Sports and Games secretary. For Literature, Culture and Publication secretary, 18 candidates submitted nominations, while 16 filed for the joint post.
The Office secretary position received 18 nominations, with 14 candidates for the joint office post.
For the reserved positions for female students, 12 nominations were submitted for Student Welfare secretary and 11 for Joint Student Welfare secretary.
Other positions saw nominations as follows: 11 for Science and IT secretary, 13 for Research and Innovation secretary, 20 for Social Service and Environment secretary, 17 for Liberation War and Democratic Movement secretary, 16 for Career Development and International Affairs secretary, 20 for Communication and Housing secretary, 14 for the joint Communication and Housing secretary, 11 for Law and Human Rights secretary, 21 for Library and Cafeteria secretary, and 17 for Health secretary.
The highest level of competition is seen for the five designated member seats, where a total of 84 candidates have submitted nominations.
