Shafiqur pledges justice for Hadi, end to culture of impunity
Shafiqur said Sharif Osman Hadi, the slain spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, was the pride of Jhalakathi and a courageous son of the soil.
If Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami forms the next government, justice for the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi will be ensured, the party's Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said today (6 February).
Speaking at an election rally of the 11-party alliance at the Jhalakathi Government High School ground, he also stressed that the "prevailing culture of impunity" in the country would not be allowed to continue.
Shafiqur said Sharif Osman Hadi, the slain spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, was the pride of Jhalakathi and a courageous son of the soil.
"He did not belong to any single party; he was a proud son of the entire nation," he said.
He added that Hadi had carried two dreams in his heart – a Bangladesh free from hegemony and a discrimination-free, justice-based state.
"He sacrificed his life while fighting to realise those dreams," he added.
The Jamaat ameer also said corruption, extortion, tender manipulation and land grabbing would no longer be tolerated in the country.
Mentioning that around Tk28 lakh crore had been siphoned off abroad during the previous regime, he said the money belongs to the people and the country.
"We will launch a state-level fight to recover this money," he added.
