BNP leader fined Tk2,000 for unauthorised entry into Bogura-2 polling centre
The accused, Taherul Islam, told reporters that the incident occurred when some female Jamaat activists at the centre were allegedly “selling tickets to heaven”.
A BNP leader was fined Tk2,000 by a mobile court today (12 February) for unlawfully entering a polling centre in Bogura-2 (Shibganj) constituency. He was later released after signing a bond promising not to repeat the act.
The incident occurred around 11:30am at the Darus Sunnat Siddiqia Senior Madrasa polling centre in Raynagar Union of Shibganj upazila. The accused, Taherul Islam, serves as the general secretary of Raynagar Union BNP.
Confirming the matter, Executive Magistrate Abdullah Al Mamun said, "Taherul Islam entered the women's voting room at the Darus Sunnat Siddiqia Senior Madrasa centre without permission. For this offence, he was fined Tk2,000. He was also released after giving a written undertaking that he would not repeat such an act in the future."
Taherul Islam told reporters that the incident occurred when some female Jamaat activists at the centre were allegedly "selling tickets to heaven".
"I intervened to stop them, and this incident happened," he said.
Meanwhile, voting is continuing across Bogura's seven constituencies in a peaceful and festive atmosphere, with a noticeable turnout of voters. Officials reported that the law and order situation remains normal, and ballots are being cast without disruption.
