Israeli army says it killed Palestinian Islamic Jihad 'commander' in Beirut
The announcement followed a statement by the Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which said al-Othman was killed the previous night
The Israeli military said it killed a Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander in Beirut, confirming the death of a senior figure from the armed group in the Lebanese capital.
In a statement, the Israeli army identified the man as Adham Adnan al-Othman, whom it described as the Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander in Lebanon, reports Al Jazeera.
The announcement followed a statement by the Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which said al-Othman was killed the previous night.
The Israeli military said al-Othman had held the position of commander for several years and was responsible for planning attacks against Israel.
He had recently continued working on behalf of the group inside Lebanon, including training operatives, recruiting members, and procuring weapons, the military said.
There was no immediate comment from Lebanese authorities.
