Tanzid Hasan Tamim's brilliant century led Legends of Rupganj to their third 10-wicket win of the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL), as they comfortably chased down a target of 130 runs against Partex Sporting Club.
Rupganj's bowlers, particularly Sheikh Mehedi Hasan and ShorifulI slam, had earlier set up the victory with outstanding performances, restricting Partex to a modest total. With this win, Rupganj sits in fourth place on the points table with five victories from nine matches.
Set a target of 130 runs, Rupganj wasted no time in their pursuit, with Tanzidtaking centre stage. He played a stunning knock of 103 not out off 59 balls, striking 10 fours and 7 sixes, and finished the chase in just 18.3 overs. His aggressive approach saw him maintain a strike rate of 174.58, as he single-handedly guided his team to victory. Saif Hassan provided excellent support at the other end, scoring an unbeaten 26 runs off 53 balls. The pair's partnership ensured that Rupganj chased down the target without losing a single wicket.
Earlier, Partex had been bowled out for just 129 runs in 34.4 overs after being asked to bat first. The innings never gained momentum, with the team losing wickets at regular intervals. Rubel Mia was the highest scorer for Partex, making 41 runs off 48 balls, while Ahrar Amin Piyan contributed 24 runs.
Rupganj's bowlers dominated the innings, with Mehedi leading the charge by claiming 4 wickets for 34 runs in 10 overs, which included one maiden. ShorifulI slam and Rezaur Rahman Raja each took two wickets, helping to restrict Partex to a total well below par.
Chasing the modest total, Rupganj's openers, particularly Tanzid, dominated the Partex bowlers. From the very beginning, Tanzid's aggressive approach set the tone for the chase, leaving Partex with no chance of stopping him. His century, struck off just 59 balls, sealed the win for Rupganj with plenty of overs to spare.
