The BPL champions Rajshahi Warriors received a rousing welcome as they toured the city on an open-top bus on Monday.
From morning until around noon, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim and their teammates rode through Rajshahi, drawing huge crowds of jubilant supporters along the route.
The team arrived in the city earlier in the morning following their BPL triumph. At around 10.30am, the players landed at Hazrat Shah Makhdum (R.) Airport, where an open-top bus had been arranged in advance. Carrying the BPL trophy, the Warriors climbed aboard as police provided an escort into the city. Senior executives from the team's owners, Nabil Group, travelled at the front of the procession.
Motorcycles packed with fans surrounded the bus, while supporters waved placards bearing messages such as "Pride of Victory", "City of Heroes" and "Victory Has Come, the Cup Has Been Lifted". A banner at the front of the bus read: "The Cup Has Come Home".
The celebratory tour began on the Rajshahi–Naogaon highway from the airport, passing through Amchattar, Biman Chattar and the RUET Flyover before reaching Paris Road at Rajshahi University. Students there welcomed the champions by showering them with flowers.
In scenes of unrestrained celebration, many supporters took off shirts, T-shirts and sweaters and threw them towards the players, who signed them and tossed them back. At several points, Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim lifted the BPL trophy high above their heads as cheers rang out. Music blared from the bus, with fans chanting and dancing, joined at times by the players themselves.
After leaving the university area, the bus travelled through Talaimari and Saheb Bazar to Rajshahi Collegiate School, where students once again crowded around to greet the team. Similar scenes unfolded at Rajshahi College before the procession continued through Laxmipur, Darikhardbona, Railgate and Amchattar, eventually arriving at Nabil Industrial Park in Paba.
Throughout the journey, people lined the roads, waving and raising their hands in celebration. Many captured the moment on their phones, taking selfies from a distance as the city revelled in the Warriors' historic BPL victory.
