Rajshahi celebrates Olympic Day through a colourful rally

The International Olympic Day 2025 was celebrated here today through a colourful rally with the participation of a large number of present and former sportsmen, sports organizations and patronizers.

Bangladesh Olympic Association and Rajshahi Divisional Sports Association jointly organized the rally from the office premises of the Divisional Commissioner.

The event emphasizes the Olympic spirit of participation, friendship, and positive social impact beyond the arena of competition.

It also laid the foundation for reviving the ancient Olympic tradition and starting the modern Olympic movement.

Main theme of this day this year is "Let's Move Together for Health and Community". The theme encourages shared physical activity to foster connection and well-being.

The Olympic Movement gathered not only to celebrate its annual tradition but to witness a truly historic moment.

In 2025, this day will continue to promote the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect, uniting people worldwide through sports, fitness, and community engagement.

Among others, Additional Commissioners Rezaul Karim Sarker and Habibur Rahman and Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development ATM Golam Mahbub were present on the occasion.

Referring to the historical background, Rezaul Karim Sarker said the International Olympic Day was first celebrated in 1948 by the International Olympic Committee to honor the founding of the modern Olympic movement.

Initially observed by only nine countries, it has grown into a global event involving over 200 National Olympic Committees and millions of participants worldwide.

He also said the International Olympic Day 2025 is a global celebration of sport's power to inspire healthy lifestyles, foster community, and promote peace and understanding.
