As soon as the referee blew the final whistle following Hong Kong's fourth goal, Hamza Chowdhury sank to the ground in despair — and stayed there for quite some time.
Bangladesh had taken the lead early in the match through Hamza's goal. Hong Kong then struck three times in a row to seize control, but goals from Morsalin and Shamit Shome brought Bangladesh back on level terms.
Shamit's equaliser came in the 98th minute — Bangladesh only needed to keep their net intact for a few more moments to secure a point. But they couldn't hold on for even that short spell. Conceding in the very last second not only sealed a 4–3 defeat but also dealt a major blow to their Asian Cup qualifying hopes.
