Shaheed Abu Sayed, who was shot dead by police during a protest led by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement on 16 July, has passed the written test of the 18th Non-Government Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA).

The result of the written test was released on the NTRCA website this afternoon (14 October).

The results showed that Md Abu Sayed, bearing roll no 201256297, passed the written test as an Ebtedaye Teacher (General) Language (Bengali and English).

Shaheed Abu Sayed, a 12th batch student of the Department of English at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), appeared in the NTRCA written test on 12 July, four days before embracing martyrdom in police firing in front of his university.

Abu Sayed, a key coordinator of the student quota reform movement for civil service jobs at BRUR, led the protest from the front during the movement.

On 16 July, Sayed was killed in police firing during the movement. He was buried in Pirganj upazila in the district the next day.

The martyrdom of Sayed ignited the student-mass uprising adding the decisive momentum to it propelling the second independence movement to free the nation from the 15-year long dictatorship of the then fascist Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Finally, Bangladesh achieved its second independence on 5 August in exchange for the supreme sacrifice of Sayed and many other brave students and people.
