Two genocide cases filed against Hasina over Ashulia mass killing
With this, a total 14 genocide cases have been filed against Sheikh Hasina
Two separate cases were filed with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today (11 September) accusing former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 69 others of committing crimes against humanity and genocide over killing several people and burned their bodies in Ashulia on 5 August.
Lawyer Huzzatul Islam Khan filed the complaints with the International Crimes Tribunal. The complaints were filed on behalf of Rizwanul Islam, the brother of As-Sabur, and Shahina Begum, the mother of Sajjad Hossain Sajal, who were killed in Ashulia on 5 August.
Ataur Rahman, an officer of the ICT, confirmed the filing of the complaint to The Business Standard (TBS).

With this, a total 14 genocide cases have been filed against Sheikh Hasina.
The other accused in the complaint include former road transport minister Obaidul Quader, ex-home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former adviser to the ousted premier Salman F Rahman, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, former superintendent of Dhaka police Md Maruf Hossain, former Dhaka additional superintendent of police Abdullahil Kafi and former Dhaka-19 MP Saiful Islam.
According to the complaint, after Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India on 5 August, all policemen from Ashulia Police Station in Dhaka and members of Dhaka DB North acted on the orders of the high profile accused.
Around 4:30pm, As-Sabur, Abdul Mannan, Mizanur Rahman, Tanzil Mahmud Sujoy, Sajjad Hossain Sajal, and Bayezid were killed when the police indiscriminately opened fire on a crowd of students celebrating the victory, the case statement further reads.
The bodies were then burned in front of Ashulia Police Station, it adds.
The complaint alleges that other accused indiscriminately fired on unarmed students and killed them on the direction of Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Salman F Rahman and others.
Their bodies were then set on fire, committing acts of genocide and crimes against humanity.
Lawyer Huzzatul Islam Khan told reporters that the accused have been charged with genocide and crimes against humanity under Sections 3(2) and 4(1)/4(2) of the International Criminal Tribunal Act, 1973.
