Debapriya Bhattacharya, the principal of the White Paper Drafting Committee and a distinguished fellow of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) fellow, met Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed today (25 August) at the Secretariat to discuss the committee's activity in forming the white paper on overall picture of the current economy.

"I came here to discuss the committee formed by the chief adviser. I will now give the remaining names of the members to the chief adviser. Once approved, work will begin," Debapriya told journalists after the discussions.

The CPD fellow also said the committee would comprise around ten members.

Responding to journalists' queries regarding the committee's working scope, Debapriya said the committee will operate based on discussions as per the circumstances, and decisions will be made based on the discussions and accurate data.

He added that the preferences of the remaining members yet to be added to the committee will also be considered.

Last Wednesday, the chief adviser's press wing announced the formation of the committee to publish the white paper.

Besides giving an overall picture of the current economy, the white paper will also include strategic steps by the government on economic matters, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and actions for transitioning from a Least Developed Country (LDC) to a developing country, the chief adviser's press wing said last Wednesday (21 August) during the committee's formation.

The committee will submit its report with recommendations to Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus within 90 days of its formation, the press wing said.
