Police have recovered the body of a woman with her face and hands tied up from a flat in the Reserve Tank area of Manikganj.

The deceased, Bilkis Akhtar, is the wife of Policeman Md Masud Rana.

According to the primary investigation, Bilkis is thought to have been killed by strangulation.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Manikganj Sadar Circle Bhaskar Saha said, "It seems that the woman was strangulated to death. However, it can only be confirmed after investigation."  

Police recovered the body around 11am on Saturday and sent it to Manikganj District Hospital morgue.

Kitabuddin, the owner of the house, said, "Policeman Md Masud Rana, who is stationed in Gazipur, rented the flat in August. His wife Bilkis Akhter lived in the flat with their two children where Masud used to visit on holidays."

"Following the sound of children crying, neighbours entered the flat at around 8 am in the morning and discovered Bilkis' lifeless body," he added.

Bilkis Akhtar hailed from Sribari village in Bartia union of Ghior upazila of Manikganj and her husband Masud Rana hails from Paruria village in Baghutia union of Daulatpur upazila of the same district.
