Magnitude 4 quake jolts Sylhet’s Sunamganj

A moderate earthquake, measuring magnitude 4 on the Richter scale, jolted Sylhet and its surrounding areas today (21 September) at around 12:20pm.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the epicentre of the tremor was located in Chhatak Upazila of Sunamganj district.
There have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage resulting from the earthquake, according to media reports.
The tremor was also felt across parts of Meghalaya, a state in northeastern India that shares a border with Bangladesh.
According to media reports, the quake occurred close to Meghalaya's border at 11:49am Indian time.
Authorities in Meghalaya said that there have been no reports of damage to property or casualties so far, reports India TV.
Seismologists noted that the tremor was relatively minor and did not have a significant impact on the state's infrastructure.
