5.5 magnitude earthquake jolts Dhaka, other parts of Bangladesh
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake originated at 5:11pm in 10 kilometres north-northeast of Kharupetia in India's Assam.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake originated at 5:11pm in 10 kilometres north-northeast of Kharupetia in India's Assam.

It had a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale and a depth of 29 kilometres. Initially, the USGS reported a magnitude of 5.9 before revising it to 5.5.
