Mithun echoes Tamim and Mahedi's words

Middle-order batsman Mohammad Mithun believes that the Bangladesh batsmen need to step up and take more responsibility if they are to have any chances of success in the ongoing three-match ODI series between them and hosts New Zealand. 

Having thumped in the first match, Bangladesh are going to face New Zealand in the second ODI in Christchurch on March 23. Ahead of the match, Mithun said, "Batsmen need to step up no matter how the wicket is. We didn't bat well in the previous match. Yes, the condition wasn't in our favour. We are a better team than that and will look to start afresh in Christchurch."

Mithun said that the batsmen need to be careful so that the match doesn't slip away in the opening few overs. "We often see that the matches slip away from our hands in the first three overs. If we can check that, the wickets in New Zealand are high-scoring. So if we bat first, we must score at least 260-270. We have to give our bowlers something to bowl at," he said.

Mithun said that the bowling line-up is excellent and the bowlers need to be complemented well by the batsmen. "This bowling line-up is much better than those of all the recent series. So we the batsmen have to be more responsible and help them prove what they are capable of. In the last match, New Zealand knew that they would easily win even if they lost early wickets."

Mithun believes that if Bangladesh can play to their full potential, the result will be better than that in Dunedin. "The wicket here in Christchurch is less bouncy but the ball comes nicely on to the bat. It will be good for the batsmen. We hope that we can do better in Christchurch if we give our best," he signed off.
