Nari Mukti Kendra demands release of Nodi Akter’s DNA results
“My daughter died on August 14, but I was informed 10 days later” – Nodi’s Mother
The Bangladesh Nari Mukti Kendra has demanded the release of DNA test and autopsy of reports of Bangladeshi teenager Nodi Akter, who was killed in Saudi Arabia.
During a rally held in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday, Bangladesh Nari Mukti Kendra also demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the murder.
Nodi's mother, Beauty Begum, said, "My daughter died on August 14, but I was informed 10 days later. When I tried various ways to contact her, they informed me that my daughter had committed suicide. But we know Nodi did not commit suicide. She was killed."

Saying that Nodi worked in three different homes in 18 months, her mother said, "She was tortured in various ways in every residence she worked in."
"We repeatedly requested Lalon, the owner of the recruiting agency Dhaka Exports, to take steps, but instead of taking action, he misbehaved with us," she added.
She further said, "Samples from Nodi's body were collected for post-mortem on January 26. We have no idea how cruelly they killed my daughter; but I want her accurate DNA test results released as soon as possible and I demand exemplary punishment of the fraud, Lalon."
Sima Dutta, president of Bangladesh Nari Mukti Kendra, "In many countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, women have died as a result of various forms of torture, but government officials want to hold the victims accountable."
"We are also aware that, people asking for help in embassies have been harassed in multiple ways," she added.
