GP Employees Union protest against job termination

The members of Grameenphone Employees Union (GPEU) on Tuesday formed a human chain in front of Dhaka Stock Exchange demanding the reinstatement of Mia Masud, recently sacked general secretary of GPEU, and 180 workers.

According to a GPEU press release, the union will continue with protests until its demand is fulfilled.

Department of Labour has invited GPEU to its office on 26 November to discuss the matter.

Earlier, on 27 October, Mia Masud was dismissed without being given any reason by applying Section 26 of the Bangladesh Labour Act, reads the press release. Since then, the union is protesting for his reinstatement.
