Pubali Bank honours Everest climber Nurunnahar Nimni
Pubali Bank PLC has honoured its Principal Officer and mountaineer Nurunnahar Nimni for conquering Mount Everest, the world's highest peak.
The bank sponsored both her Himlung Himal Expedition and Everest Expedition in Nepal, Pubali Bank said in a press release.
The reception programme, titled "Honouring the Summit Conqueror", was held at the auditorium of the bank's head office.
Mohammad Ali, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pubali Bank PLC, attended the programme as chief guest.
Deputy Managing Directors Mohammad Esha, Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, Ahmed Enayet Monzur, Md Shahnewaz Khan and Mohammad Anisuzzaman were present at the event.
Sultana Sharifun Nahar, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Principal Branch, along with the bank's executives and senior female officials, also attended the programme.
During the programme, Mohammad Ali presented Nurunnahar Nimni with a commemorative crest and a letter of appreciation. A documentary highlighting her mountaineering journey was also screened.
Nurunnahar Nimni reached the summit of Mount Everest at 5:24am Nepal time on 27 May, 2026.
Fourteen years after the last successful ascent by a Bangladeshi woman, her achievement marked a new chapter of glory for the country, the release said.
