Turaag active recognises Bangladesh women’s futsal team
Turaag Active, a Bangladeshi activewear brand, honoured the Bangladesh Women's Futsal Team, champions of the SAFF Women's Futsal Championship 2026, by inviting the team to inaugurate its newly launched store in Narayanganj.
Held in a festive atmosphere, the event celebrated the team's historic achievement and their contribution to advancing women's sports in Bangladesh. The initiative aimed to recognise the accomplishments of female athletes and highlight the importance of sustained corporate support for women's sports.
The inauguration was attended by Asif Ashraf, managing director, Urmi Group; Faiaz Rahman, founder and director, Turaag Active and Urmi Group; Shamarukh Fakhruddin, director, Urmi Group; Ahmmad Monsur Rouf, chief operating officer, Turaag Active; along with senior officials of the brand, invited guests and media professionals.
Turaag Active extended a warm welcome to the players, honouring their championship victory and their contributions to the nation. The organisers said the event reflected a shared sense of pride, celebration, and sporting excellence.
As part of the programme, the women's futsal team also visited the UHM factory, an enterprise of Urmi Group in Narayanganj, where they took part in an interactive session with members of Urmi Group. The players shared their international experiences, challenges and future aspirations. A special luncheon was later hosted in honour of the champions.
In recognition of their achievement, Turaag Active presented the team with financial rewards and special gifts, describing the gesture as a symbol of trust, encouragement, and long-term support for female athletes.
Speaking at the event, Asif Ashraf said the team's success demonstrated that Bangladeshi women can excel internationally when given adequate opportunity and support. He added that empowering female athletes and supporting women's sports remain key priorities for Turaag Active.
The captain of the women's futsal team described the initiative as a meaningful collaboration between the sports and corporate sectors, noting that such efforts would inspire more women athletes to step forward in future.
Turaag Active said it would continue to stand by women athletes and support the growth of women's sports in Bangladesh.
