Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir accuse each other of Cucsu code violations
At 2pm today (8 October), Chhatra Dal filed a complaint alleging that Shibir-backed *Shompriti Shikkharthi Jot* vice president candidate Md Ibrahim Hossain campaigned with a sound system for 20 minutes during a class in Room 3323 of the History Department — violating conduct rules.

In the run-up to the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) elections, student wings of both Chhatra Shibir and Chhatra Dal have filed mutual complaints with the university's election commission, accusing each other of violating the election code of conduct.
Today (8 October) at 2pm, Chhatra Dal submitted a complaint alleging that in the Shahid Hridoy Chandra Tarua building ( previously New Arts Building), on the 3rd floor in History Department classroom 3323, Chhatra Shibir-supported "Shompriti Shikkharthi Jot" panel's vice president candidate, Md Ibrahim Hossain, conducted election campaigning using a sound system while attending a class for 20 minutes — a clear breach of the conduct rules.
Abdullah Al Noman, general secretary of CU Chhatra Dal said, "The candidate violated the election code of conduct. We have submitted written proof to the election commission and hope for prompt action."
Responding, Ibrahim Hossain Rony, the Chhatra Shibir-supported VP candidate, said, "I did not go there to campaign. I was passing through the department for departmental work when some students insisted I answer their queries about alumni. Due to excessive noise, I spoke for less than a minute using the classroom sound system and then left. I carried no leaflets, nor was anyone else involved."
Meanwhile, Mehedi Hasan Sohan, a member of the "Shompriti Shikkharthi Jot" panel, alleged that Chhatra Dal member Naeem Uddin, a law student of 2019–20 session, entered a classroom of the department and distributed leaflets, campaigning for Chhatra Dal candidates.
The complaint notes that this behaviour directly violates Cucsu and Hall Union election code of conduct, 2025, Section 4(3), which explicitly forbids any campaigning in classrooms, examination halls, or during teaching hours. Evidence, including CCTV footage and a video submitted to the election commission, supports the allegations.
The submitted video shows the accused distributing Chhatra Dal-supported panel VP candidate Sajjad Hossain Hridoy's leaflets in the classroom. The complainant requested strict disciplinary action following the investigation.
Mohammad Parvez, secretary of CU Chhatra Shibir, confirmed, "We have submitted our complaint. There is video evidence that supports our complaint. We hope the election commission will take appropriate action."
VP candidate Sajjad Hossain Hridoy of Chhatra Dal responded, "Students were discussing Cucsu among themselves, and I had no involvement in distributing leaflets or campaigning."
According to the Cucsu and Hall Union Election Code of Conduct, 2025, "No candidate or supporter may campaign inside classrooms, examination halls, or during teaching hours, nor engage in any activity that disrupts educational activities, including using sound systems or microphones. All candidates and supporters must remain vigilant of this rule."
Election commissioner and member Prof secretary A K M Ariful Haque Siddique said, "All parties are equal before the commission. We have received complaints from both sides. The election commissioner and Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee head, Prof Amir Muhammad Nasrullah, is reviewing the matter and will take action accordingly."
