Chhatra Federation puts up photo of Ghulam Azam being beaten with shoes at Ducsu archive
The move came hours after a DU student tore down two Jinnah photographs from the archive.
Leaders of the Bangladesh Chhatra Federation's Dhaka University unit today (14 September) placed a photograph showing Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ghulam Azam being beaten with shoes at the DU Central Students' Union (Ducsu) historical archive , protesting the display of Muhammad Ali Jinnah's photographs there.
A group of students led by Chhatra Federation DU unit Organising Secretary Orko Barua placed the photograph at around 3pm.
According to visitors who later toured the archive, the photograph was hung directly above the spot where Jinnah's photograph had been displayed.

The photograph shows Ghulam Azam being beaten with shoes at Baitul Mukarram in 1981.
The move came hours after DU student Abu Taher Habildar tore down two Jinnah photographs from the archive at around 2:30pm, saying Jinnah's opposition to the Bengali language and his role in the arrest of students at Dhaka University's Curzon Hall in 1948 made him unfit to be represented in the archive.
The historical archive on the ground floor of the Ducsu building reopened yesterday (13 September) following renovation work. It features, among other exhibits, a photograph of Jinnah delivering his controversial "Urdu shall be the state language of Pakistan" speech at the then Racecourse Maidan on 21 March 1948.
Ducsu General Secretary SM Farhad defended the inclusion of Jinnah's photograph, saying his opposition to the Bengali language had been mentioned alongside it.
He said the Ducsu authorities had also given teachers and students a week to submit feedback and suggestions about the archive's contents.
