Raushan-led JaPa faction's Secretary General Mamunur placed on 6-day remand
The charges relate to an alleged conspiracy to overthrow the government in collusion with a foreign intelligence agency.

A Dhaka court has placed Kazi Mamunur Rashid, secretary general of the Raushan Ershad-led faction of the Jatiyo Party, on a six‑day remand in a case filed under the Anti‑Terrorism Act.
The charges relate to an alleged conspiracy to overthrow the government in collusion with a foreign intelligence agency.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farjana Haque issued the remand order today (29 September) following a hearing.
Earlier, Md Akhtar Morshed, inspector of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch's Ramna division, presented the accused in court and sought a ten‑day remand. He told the court: "We found evidence of Mamunur Rashid's involvement after analysing the seized mobile phone belonging to Enayet Karim Chowdhury, the prime accused in the case. The accused received Enayet from the airport and paid for his hotel stay. He and others were conspiring with Enayet to overthrow the interim government."
The accused's lawyer, Sirajul Haque Faisal, applied for bail and the cancellation of the remand order, arguing: "Has the call data record confirming his contact with Mamunur Rashid been submitted to the court? He has been falsely implicated with Enayet based on an untrue claim. This is a false case." The investigating officer later submitted the CDR to the court.
State prosecutor Qayyum Hossain Nayan opposed the bail application, saying, "Evidence of his association with Enayet has been found. They were conspiring to reinstate the Awami League government and cancel the election. They are agents of RAW [India's Research and Analysis Wing]."
The court, after hearing arguments, granted a six‑day remand.
According to the case file, Enayet Karim Chowdhury, a Bangladeshi‑origin US citizen and the prime accused, was seen behaving suspiciously in a Prado vehicle in the Minto Road area on 13 September. When questioned, he failed to give a satisfactory explanation and was taken into custody. Two iPhones recovered from him contained information about the alleged conspiracy. Enayet claimed to be an agent of a foreign intelligence agency and admitted arriving from New York on 6 September on a secret mission to overthrow the interim government.
Kazi Mamunur Rashid was arrested yesterday evening outside The Westin Dhaka hotel.
