Shahed Ahmed Majumder, son of former state minister for industries and ex-MP from Dhaka-15, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, has been placed on a five-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman passed the order this afternoon (28 September) after a hearing.
Earlier in the day, police produced Shahed before the court and sought a 10-day remand.
Gulshan Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Abdus Salam, the investigation officer, filed the petition. After hearing both sides, the court granted a five-day remand, confirmed Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Farooqui.
Yesterday (27 September) around 10pm, the Counter Terrorism Unit arrested Shahed from a house in the Niketan area of Gulshan, Dhaka. He was later shown arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Gulshan Police Station in the capital.
