Former Narail MP Mukti placed on 6-day remand
Mujammel Haque, president of the Bangabandhu Foundation, has also been placed on 6-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed former Narail-1 lawmaker Kabinul Haque Mukti on a six-day police remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Gulshan Police Station.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order this afternoon (25 September) after a hearing on the remand petition.
The court also granted a six-day remand for Mujammel Haque, president of the Bangabandhu Foundation, in the same case.
Earlier in the day, Sub-Inspector Md Abdus Salam, the case's investigating officer, produced the duo before the court and sought a 10-day remand.
State counsel Omar Faruk Faruki moved for the remand petition, while defence lawyers Jahangir Alam and Md Kayes Ahmed Ornob opposed it and sought bail. The court rejected the bail plea and granted six days' remand for each accused.
The two were arrested around 9:00pm on 24 September from the Niketan area of the capital.
According to the remand petition, the accused—described as leaders and activists of the Awami League, banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, and their affiliated bodies—have long been plotting terrorist activities aimed at undermining the country's integrity, security, and sovereignty.
They allegedly used their mobile phones to spread provocative propaganda in about a dozen WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger groups in an effort to destabilise the state.
Case documents state that on 12 September, around 1:30pm, a group of leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League and Awami League staged a procession on the bridge near the south side of Dr Fazle Rabbi Park in Gulshan. They allegedly chanted incendiary slogans intended to destabilise the state and tried to vandalise passing vehicles, creating panic among the public.
Later, Sub-Inspector Md Mahbub Hossain of Gulshan Police Station filed the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Police also noted that Mukti has long faced allegations of local domination, tender manipulation, and extortion.
