Cucsu polls rescheduled to 15 October over campaigning concerns
"Candidates demanded at least a couple of extra days. Taking this into account, and after consultation with the vice-chancellor, the commission decided to reschedule the election," Election Commission Secretary Professor AKM Ariful Haque Siddique says

The Chittagong University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) and hall union elections have been rescheduled to 15 October from 12 October after candidates raised concerns about insufficient time for campaigning.
Election Commission Secretary Professor AKM Ariful Haque Siddique announced the decision in an audio message, obtained by The Business Standard, shared in a WhatsApp group today (23 September).
In the message, he said, "A meeting of all commissioners was held earlier in the day. The decision to delay the election came after Saturday's exchange of views with candidates and students, where most participants expressed concern about having only five days for campaigning after the final candidate list was published and before the university's closure."
"Many students will return late from holidays as the university is located far from other districts. Candidates demanded at least a couple of extra days. Taking this into account, and after consultation with the vice-chancellor, the commission decided to reschedule the election for 15 October," Prof Ariful added.
He further said, "Another reason for the change was the commission's own preparations, as organising the election within just five working days after the vacation would be difficult."
According to the commission, all examinations scheduled between 12 and 18 October will remain suspended, though classes will continue.
