Cucsu polls: The panels in spotlight this round

The Chittagong University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) election is set to be held on 12 October after a long gap of 35 years.
With 931 candidates submitting nomination papers, student panels representing different political and non-political groups, as well as independent contenders, have entered the race.
Of the total candidates, 429 are contesting the Cucsu election, while 502 are standing in various hall unions. Among these, 356 are for the boys' halls and 146 for the girls' halls.
Following the submission of nomination papers, several panels have announced their full line-ups, drawing attention across the campus.
The Chittagong University unit of Chhatra Dal has nominated Sajjad Hossain Hridoy for vice president (VP), Md Shafayet Hossain for general secretary (GS), and Ayubur Rahman Toufiq for assistant general secretary (AGS).
Islami Chhatra Shibir, under the banner Sampritir Shikkharthi Jote (Harmonious Students' Alliance), has fielded Ibrahim Hossain Rony for VP, Said Bin Habib for GS, and Sajjad Hossain Munna for AGS in a 26-member panel.
A coalition of eleven leftist organisations has formed the panel Boichitrer Oikya (Unity of Diversity), nominating Dhrubo Barua for VP, Sudarshan Chakma for GS, and Jakirul Islam Jasim for AGS.
Non-political student organisations have announced Sarbobhauma Shikkharthi Oikya (Sovereign Students' Unity), pledging to move away from traditional politics.
Their candidates include Tawsif Muttaki Chowdhury for VP, Sajjad Hossain for GS, and SM Mushfiq Hasan for AGS.
The Islami Chhatra Andolan has launched Socheton Shikkharthi Sangsad (Conscious Students' Parliament) with Abdur Rahman Robin for VP, Md Abdur Rahman for GS, and Aminul Islam Rakib for AGS.
Another group, Swatantra Shikkharthi Sammilan (Independent Students' Convention), comprising activists from last year's anti-discrimination movement and social-cultural groups, has nominated Mahfuzur Rahman for VP and Rashid Dinar for GS.
Ohingsho Shikkharthi Oikya (Non-Violent Students' Unity) has presented a 31-point demand. Its candidates are Muhammad Forhadul Islam for VP and Mohammad Yasin Uddin Sakib for GS.
An additional independent panel, Swatantra Shikkharthi Jote (Independent Students' Alliance), is fielding Abir bin Jabed for VP, Chowdhury Tasnim Jahan Srabon for GS, and Polash Dey for AGS.
Meanwhile, Droho Parishad (Rebellion Council) was the first to collect nomination papers. This alliance of the Bangladesh Chhatra Union and Socialist Students' Front has Rijulakkhi Oborodh as its VP candidate and Ifazuddin Ahmed Imu as its GS candidate.
