Chinese Kaixi Group to invest $40m more in BEPZA EZ

Chinese investor Kaixi Group is set to inject an additional US$40.05 million into the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) for a new intimate garments and accessories manufacturing facility.
The agreement was signed between Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and Kaixi Garments Bangladesh Ltd., a concern of Kaixi Group, at BEPZA Complex, Dhaka. BEPZA Executive Chairman Maj Gen Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BSP, ndc, psc, witnessed the signing. At the same time, Member (Investment Promotion), Md Ashraful Kabir and Kaixi Chairman Xiao Hongxi signed on behalf of their respective organisations.
The new project will produce 18 million pairs of lingerie and undergarments, as well as 20 million pairs of bra foam and bra cups annually, creating 3,003 jobs for Bangladeshi nationals.
Maj Gen Ziaur Rahman welcomed Kaixi's continued expansion, noting that the decision to grow just 14 months after starting operations reflects strong investor confidence in BEPZA EZ.
Xiao Hongxi acknowledged some operational challenges, including the lack of nearby worker housing, but reaffirmed Kaixi's commitment to Bangladesh.
Kaixi's first BEPZA EZ project, approved in November 2022 with an investment of US$60.85 million, began commercial production in June 2024 and employs around 3,700 workers. Across its two factories in Dhaka EPZ and BEPZA EZ, the group has created about 6,000 jobs.
To date, 45 companies have committed over US$1 billion in investments at BEPZA EZ, of which four have begun commercial operations.
