ACC probes printing press owners over alleged corruption in NCTB textbook printing
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched interrogations of printing press owners accused of corruption in the printing of textbooks for the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
A team led by ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan questioned Sheikh Siraj Uddin, managing director of Letter N Color Limited, at the ACC headquarters in Segunbagicha, Dhaka today (14 July), said ACC Deputy Director Akhtarul Islam.
The ACC has also summoned Dewan Ali Kabir, managing director of Master Simex Paper Limited, to appear for questioning tomorrow at 10am.

Earlier on 9 July, the ACC issued notices to both Sheikh Siraj Uddin and Dewan Ali Kabir to appear in connection with a corruption inquiry involving suspended National Citizen Party leader Gazi Salauddin Tanvir.
Tanvir is under investigation for allegedly abusing his influence at NCTB through lobbying, extortion, manipulation of tenders, and illegaly amassing hundreds of crores of taka in wealth.
As part of the probe, the ACC has sent a letter to the NCTB chairman requesting detailed records of the last 10 years of operations of 36 printing presses involved in textbook printing.
Officials confirmed that all owners of these 36 presses will be interrogated in phases. One ACC official noted that several of them also face allegations of illegaly acquiring wealth.
