IUBAT launches Chinese language programme to foster global competency

International University of Business, Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) officially inaugurated its new Chinese Language Programme on 5 July 2025. This initiative is a collaborative effort between IUBAT's Department of English and Modern Languages (DEML) and the Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom (SMHHCC).
The event was attended by distinguished guests including Professor Dr Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT; Professor Selina Nargis, Treasurer and Director of Administration; and Professor Dr Bijoy Lal Basu, Advisor to DEML.
The programme began with a welcome address by ATM Sirajul Alom, Chair of DEML, who warmly greeted the guests and the inaugural cohort of students. Professor Dr Bijoy Lal Basu then shared his personal experiences learning Mandarin, providing inspiration to attendees. Dr Hasanuzzaman Tushar, Coordinator of the Bachelor of Business Administration programme, outlined the background and vision behind the launch of the Chinese Language Programme.
Professor Selina Nargis expressed optimism about the students' future achievements, extending her best wishes for their success. Concluding the formal proceedings, Professor Dr Abdur Rab highlighted the strategic importance of learning Chinese, noting China's growing socio-economic and geopolitical influence in today's world.
The inauguration concluded with a commemorative photo session, marking a significant milestone in IUBAT's commitment to advancing global linguistic and cultural understanding.
